A clarification about an earlier point about drawing swords that goes a bit adrift

@charles17th How can I scrutinise evidence, if no evidence is apparent? What might the evidence be? Photographs of medieval ninjas in action? Paintings of captured (failed) ninjas in what they were supposed to have been wearing when caught during a hit? Authentic in-period written and illustrated manuals on how to be a ninja showing everyone in black? Yes, on some missions the bank-robber mask might work.

YES, THANK YOU!
I have been saying for the longest time that ninjas most likely didn't run around in black ninja costumes because they're dead giveaways? So much easier to pretend to be a farmer who likes dark clothing out for a walk after harvesting some crops with your hand scythes. Also as far as ninja swords, I still think they were only straight because ninjas had to scrounge up cheaper swords that weren't tempered right to get the curve, not because straight swords was a preference

The picture of The Master was priceless! Great timing, this video would not have been complete without him. (see Cryostation for 'The Master')

@ShitCrap I think the name for the smaller sword would be wakazashi.

@MultiMaxyboy123 One more point; The Ninja's were primarily involved with espionage and sabotage. That is, gathering intelligence on enemy terrain, building specifications, and the like. And sabotaging enemy castles via arson. Simply disguising yourself as a villager, guard, or hell, a castle owner's manservant would probably be far more effective than prancing about in the fields in a jumpsuit.
Also, the Ninja had no specialized weapons (you know, things that would BLOW THEIR COVER IF FOUND).

The "cord" is the Saego I think.

@MultiMaxyboy123 Another major objection to black cloth is that it is the most difficult colour to achieve with medieval technology.

@ShitCrap Contrary to what people believe, full-black is bloody awful at concealing yourself in the dark. If a Ninja wore a full-black jumpsuit he'd just get caught. If he HAD to wear a jumpsuit to avoid detection (which is still retarded, simply disguising yourself as a peasant or guard for whatever place you're infiltrating would be far more concealing), it'd probably be a dark blue.

The black clothing is a modern adaptation for the look of ninja (shinobi). It came from plays, the prop people and such would be dressed in all black indicating "I'm invisible". Not sure on the details but that somehow became the uniform for ninja because they're bloody magic and invisible.

yeah, this is something I thought about for a back sheath
and abut the black outfit, obviously it's to hide in shadows
and point of assassination and spying is that YOU DON'T GET CAUGHT OR SEEN and you kill those who see you
smaller katanas (which I think are not called katanas but something else) were made for females too, so no special ordering in ancient japan and they probably trained at some rural areas you would not get away walking in japanese castle because no peasants allowed

When it comes to rolling, I do agree with you when looking from your point of view. Why would you roll on the floor when you could run there. :) It takes far less energy and is likely more quiet. However, the roll was used when escaping from a sword slash. Mostly this was used when there wasn't enough time to get out of the way by just doing footwork. You drop down and roll making yourself a smaller target. But it's true when a ninja HAS to use this it's because he (or she) failed.
The masks were just there because they're terribly comfortable. Everyone'll be wearing them in the future.

@Celebrithil "Comfortable"? I do not think that word means what you think it means.

@lindybeige Inconceivable!
And I just wanted to tell you how much I like your videos (those I've seen, anyway). The only one I saw that I didn't enjoy much was the one about Braveheart. Because of the wind noise.

@Celebrithil Yes, the wind noise in that one is annoying. Sorry. You rush a miracle man, you get rotten miracles.
