Broom Wielding Residents Clean Up After Riots

Hundreds of volunteers armed with brooms have been deployed in different districts of London, to clean the streets of the remnants of the 4 day riots, which culminated in the worst rioting Britain has seen in decades.

All those who showed up, came to denounce what the rioters had done.

"We are in desperate need of those who represent their communities. It is important to note that the people were unable to do anything during the sabotage and this feeling of helplessness has generated a desire to help in cleaning the streets," said Jane Ellison.

"We outnumbered the rioters who left all this damage behind them. We need more persons to join us and tell those people: You cannot act this foolishly in this beautiful capital and great country," added a volunteer.

London's mayor was the first to visit the "Clapham" junction, to support the residents who have joined the "Together for cleaning" campaign promoted on Facebook and Twitter. Thousands of citizens responded to this campaign in order to support the affected neighborhoods and condemn the sabotage.

"We have seen the worst of Britain, but I also believe we have seen some of the best of Britain: the million people who have signed up on Facebook to support the police, coming together in the clean-up operations. Local societies will intensify their efforts in the cleaning process and there won't be any negligence in accomplishing what is required," said David Cameron.

The massive damage will require more than just cleaning the streets for life to regain normalcy, with continuing caution and vigilance across the various regions.
