Belgian label Sound Avenue became one of our favourite labels of 2011.

Every year there are literally countless new labels that start up and fail to make their mark or have any sort of impact on the electronic music underground. Last year Sound Avenue launched their label in early July and with five high quality and well thought out release packages they quickly made a reputation for themselves as being one of the freshest progressive house labels around. Their first release of 2012 is here and it sees the return of the Yunta production duo which is made up of Christophe Chantzis & Erik Vanspauwen. 'Perpetuum' is the duos newest studio creation and it comes with remixes from: dPen and Luis Bondio.
The 'Perpetuum' original leads the package off on an extremely large note. A rumbling, well shaped bass line with huge momentous energy sets the big room appeal right away. The rolling drums, crisp claps and effervescent synth lines build the overall atmosphere very high as the track progresses to the main breakdown. Here a fizzy wall of synths and bubbly lines build some tension before everything drops out to reveal a heavenly melody with a wonderful ethereal vibe. Shortly thereafter the kick drops back in along with some razor sharp synths that tear through the hazy melodic wall perfectly. Certainly one of the biggest sounding records to come out on Sound Avenue to date.
The first remix is supplied by Greek producer dPen who has appeared on Nick Warren's Hope Recordings on and several other high quality imprints over the last several years. dPen's 'Perpetuum' interpretation starts off with a very deliberate almost marching style groove. A DJ friendly intro leads to the introduction of a wavering hypnotic synth and big glacial sweeps. As the composition builds several new percussive elements are added an along with them you can feel anticipation rising as the drop approaches. Here the melodic lead from the original is unleashed for what proves to be an amazing moment. It's all in the setup on this one, with nearly four minutes of a relatively dry percussive groove the introduction of that heavenly lead proves to be all the more large and emotionally satisfying. Top remix from dPen and one that should do some serious damage on those large progressive floors.
Closing the package out is a good friend and top Argentinean producer Luis Bondio. Luis started 2011 as a relatively unknown producer on the worldwide progressive house scene but with productions that got support and more importantly radio and club play from Hernan Cattaneo Luis quickly became one of the hottest up and coming talents of 2011. His 'Perpetuum' remix more than gets 2012 off to a great start. With a trippy somewhat sombre vibe at the outset you can feel that something special is building here. The cool percussive groove more than keeps your attention high and as the main melodic theme from the original begins to slowly fade in over the tracks framework a magical vibe comes over the composition. A brief drop showcases the amazing theme amidst a wash of wispy, swirling atmospherics. It's the ethereal, otherworldly quality of the lead that makes it so special and over Luis' refined groove that never tries to do too much it's the perfect combination. Outstanding work from Luis and we can't to see what 2012 has in store for this great talent. It's rare that any label has a string of releases that are consistently in our Hype Chart top 5 but Sound Avenue has done just that, a great start to 2012 for one of the hottest imprints of the moment.
