That means your engine doesnt have enough power to fully drive that 6th gear. Which is odd. Why would they design a car with a bigger gear that the engine cant drive? Honda for you I suppose...

You should try doing 150,ooo miles in your 7 speed merc revving at 7000rpm and then see how well it pulls!! did 85k in my merc and cost me a fortune, my accord type r has done 150k and still drives like new!

@320bit sure it could have had 5 gears but then you would top out at a lot less speed or they could have increased the ratio of the gearing which would make you slow as hell and you might not even reach your top speed.

6th gear is to get to top speed and still get good gas mileage when you are cruising down the freeway at around 2k rpm.
