I was pointing out hypocrisy with my original statement, but you have somehow turned this a comment on homosexuality and it's moral implications. If Louganis can make a comment on the "choice" of eating unhealthy, then I can make a comment on the "choice" of unhealthy sexual practices.

an ethical or moral element. I do not believe in "choice" or find the phrase meaningful. It's just so much noise. I've never seen a "choice" demonstrated to me, I've only seen exactly what happens and a goodly number of reasons to think that behavior may be random or determined.

As far as Greg being raped. That's very possible. AT least you're now including in your moral understanding the concept of "mens re" where the mind is. He was in an abusive relationship. So it is possible. I don't mean to make you anti-anything. I don't understanding the need to besmirch my sincere debate with insinuations about motivations. And ones I hope you'll accept I don't have. I do think one reason we won't see eye to eye is that you believe in "choice" and think "choice" has an

Icky, it would only be a surprise if you weren't homophobic. You're a product of a systematically homophobic culture. Many gay people also have to purge homophobia because it's insidious, pervasive, and pernicious.

Now you're using very small level moral reasoning--consequential. Something is not a good/bad choice because of the result always or only. Go back to the black jack example. The right black jack play is based on what you have and there is a RIGHT PLAY win or lose.

Really? Your one of those people who love to call people homophobic, huh? Yes, I know some history of HIV, as did many people that lived in the 80's unless you lived under a rock. Any,not just "gay" sex is risky. And if you catch something from it, then yes, you made a bad choice. And yes, if Louganis was raped, that would be different, because it wouldn't be his choice. Now your trying to make me "anti-people with aids".You totally changed my words around in your attempt to shift the argument.

Finally, you're clearly a str8 male, who doesn't know anything about the history of HIV and at least mildly homophobic because you think "gay sex" is a bad decision. Did you know the Mr. Louganis was raped? Would you change your fake moral outrage if that was how it was contracted? Or did Ryan White make a mistake being a hemo as much as Greg a homo?

Again, you're conflating two things. That we might, with hindsight, look at something and judge it. Does not mean that at the time there were any such "moral", "ethical" or even "practical" truth.

Take playing BlackJack. If you have an 11 verses a dealer showing a 5...and of course by definition you don't know the other card, it is always the "right choice" to double down. It is meaningless to say, that the choice is "right" or "wrong" based on the outcome.

Not knowing you made a bad choice, does not negate the fact that a bad choice was made. He made a bad choice in the past, that's more than evident now. According to his bio, he tested positive for HIV in 1988... years after HIV and it's causes were first discovered. Everyone in the world knew back then that AIDS was most prevalent in the gay community. Clearly, he knew the risks at this time, and obviously ignored them.

No, I don't "misunderstand you" I think you're wrong. You're presuming it was a knowable bad choice at the time. I don't know that he wasn't under notification... but it's unlikely neither do you. And to help you, you're still making an illogical fallacy. See youtube.com/watch?v=2IOi4M4jhuw Tu Quoque Fallacy or Appeal to Hypocrisy ... He is both right about the food and the choice, even if he has made a poor choice (and that's not even proven yet).

I don't think your really grasping the point here. Yes, sex is natural. It can also be unhealthy if it's done in a careless way.The "argument" you're making has nothing to do with my statement. Yes, fast food is unhealthy. But this is not about food. It's about choices. Criticizing people's choices sounds silly when it's obvious you make even worse choices. It's like a heroin addict telling someone smoking cigarettes is bad for them. Are they correct? Yes, but can they talk about bad choice?
