Watching anything related to Mike Richards right now makes me break down in tears. I still have trouble comprehending that this man will not be pulling on an orange and black sweater anymore. All I can hope is that some day down the road he'll find his way home to Philadelphia. I love you Mike, you'll always be my favorite hockey player.

As a 36 year Kings fan I'm really looking forward to Richie lighting it up here in LA. I feel for you fans in Philly. Sucks when a fan fav gets moved.

Why did we give up mike Richards again? Oh that's right, to clear cap space for bryzgalov... Idc how good Bryz was before Richards was a fuckin leader, thought he'd be a Flyer forever

@NHLflyersfan They WERE a big roll. We don't need them anymore.
-
@kidkong584 for 9.5 million. and thats damn ballsy considering those two players were a big roll in taking the team to 2 conference finals, a cup final, and a division championship in 4 years.
-
@kidkong584 so you mean to tell me because a player has one off year (still 3rd on the team in points, while playing injured) that you trade him? Do me a favor, look at every crucial goal in the 2010 playoffs, and see who's name appears next to it on the score sheet, most likely it was scored or assisted by Richards. This is a mistake the Flyers will regret. They turned 135 points (Richards and Carter) for about $10mil, into Jagr (maybe 50 points), Talbot (maybe 10ts), and Schenn(a wildcard)

@NHLflyersfan Richie hasn't produced since game 5 of the ECF.

@navymed22 First off, I'm a girl, and second, which part are you saying is wrong? You can go ahead and look it up, it was in the team's injury report that was released following the end of the season, and Mike talked about it himself in an interview following the end of the season.
-
@ilovemyflyers48 in the words of willy wonka.... 'WRONG SIR"
-
@navymed22 Uh his "lack-luster performance" was due to having torn cartilage in his wrist since training camp, probably since the end of last season. Obviously that affected things like his faceoff percentage, wrist shot, physicality, etc. He played as best as he could through the pain. Did you hear one word of complaint about it? No. Additionally, he had pneumonia during the playoffs. That puts some people in the hospital, and he played every game with it.

@NHLflyersfan Go Navy beat Army. Flyers win the cup in 2013-2014
Im glad they traded him. His lack-luster performance since Jan of last season and off the ice issues made him expendable (trust me, there were issues like drug abuse and too much partying). The Carter trade was excellent, nobody misses him. Pronger has been captain since his arrival. Ill always miss richy but more so b/c of his earlier days rather than his later. He seemed to lose his heart for the flyers recently. Giroux is future.

@navymed22 and if you're going to tell me about Pronger being captain, does a captain get surgery, then go back, injure himself again? Richie played with a hurt wrist for more than half the season. As far as your drug comment I highly doubt that, and the partying, well if you're a 26 year old millionaire sitting at your house there is something wrong with you, anyone at that age parties.

@navymed22 Lastly if you say Carter won't be missed your mistaken. Team lead in goals for the third season in a row, and has become an excellent faceoff man and backchecker. There will be a huge difference next year when you don't see Richards shorthanded magic, and hustle, and bone crushing hits, and Carter's 35-40 goals aren't appearing on the scoresheet.. 2 conference finals, a cup final, and 3/4ths of the year as the best team in the east, and you trade 2 of the leading scorers away.
