East Grand Adventure Race May 14
This year's adventure race is less than one month away and you can now access registration forms on line! New for this year, we've changed the compass run, bike route (less uphill travel) and added five new divisions! Beginning on Stetson Mountain Wind Farm and ending on the Baskahegan Stream in Danforth, this 20 mile race includes an off trail compass run, mountain biking, canoeing and a climbing wall challenge. Hosted by the East Grand High School's Outdoor Education program and sponsored in part by Ski Rack Sports of Bangor and First Wind, the race is designed to get teens and adults outside for some good wholesome physical activity while travelling through rugged and remote eastern Maine wilderness. 63 competed in the race last year. While the race will be physically challenging, it is not beyond the reach of those who are in reasonably good physical condition. There are eight divisions including High School Boys, Girls, Mixed, Adult Men, Women, Mixed, Jr./Sr. and Open (Jr./Sr. minimum age is 13 and must compete with an adult. Open division can be solo, kayakers, race boats, relay team). Entry fee is $40.00 per team (pairs) which includes trophies, t-shirts, lunch and over $1,000.00 in prizes for youth divisions.
