Joel Plaskett pt. 5 - "Wishful Thinking" @ Petersham

A travelling song for erm, travellers; stories of opening for Russell Crowe; shrimp'n'mayo white sandwiches and a fear of spiders all get covered along with the final song from his wonderful set in the backyard gig series "Under The Clothesline" in Petersham, inner west Sydney, on a lovely Sunday afternoon. Got all except the last 10 secs of the song cos my memory card ran out -- sorry! (Jan 6, 2008)

Firstly, that's not my backyard - it's DARREN HANLON's - a wonderful Sydney singer/songwriter who invited Joel to play at his BBQ (Joel was in the country touring.) If you like his work, check out Dazza's. I also have lots of Darren footage uploaded; some of the banter before and after is just gold ;) )

Darren used to hold these BBQs in his backyard occasionally (still does?) and I decided to film (as I often do.) I'll probably never get that close to Joel again! It was a great afternoon :D

But well done with this, this is really awesome, not many videos really capture what makes Joel's live show awesome, which is the audience interaction, but its done perfectly here. Thanks for uploading :D

Donair's : Ground beef spiced and cooked vertically on a spit. Thinly sliced and served on a pita with creamy sweet garlic sauce (not mayo). To be eaten while well hung over or pissed drunk.
