Singaporean teachers please correct yourselves and stop teaching your pupils to pronounce 'flour' as /flɑ:/ .Both Americans and English pronouce 'flour' as /flaʊ-ə/. If you know phonetic alphabet, go check it up. My tuition class pupils are facing a dilemma: if this word appears in an oral exam reading passage, should they pronounce the correct one or the one Singaporean teachers have mispronounced?
