The combination of these two forces revolutionized video art through the 80's and 90's, making the music video a cornerstone of the pop culture conversation.
Facts; Composed by Charlie Chaplin in 1936 for his last silent film 'Modern Times' . Lyrics added in 1954 by Turner and Parsons and became a Nat King Cole standard. The version you are hearing is Michael Jackson singing in the 1995 Album HIStory.

Brook Shield, thanks soooo much for uploading this, my Greatgrandfather was a mime ( amoung other arts), and this has always been one of Michael's favorite songs of mine. Michael has not yet been recognized as a mime as much as I believe he should be. He is recognized as an all around artist though so I guess thats cool. I know he loved Charlie Chaplin so hopefully I will be able to keep this video on my channel for posterity. Thanks again♪♪♪ and Love♪

My grandmother was paralyzed at her right side of the body, and I was crying besidedh er telling her that I were going to miss her singing. So my mum said that I needed to sing for her instead. So I started to sing. I sang Smile. I saw her trying so hard to smile. But she couldn't but I saw her smiling. through her eyes. That was the last time I mer my granmother. I'll forever remember this song. It's beautiful. It's a beautiful meaning.
