My normal writing process is to skip around from scene to scene. I find that it keeps the flow going like you mentioned.
Keep some kind of writing utensils by your bed for those dreams. Even your phones notepad works. :)

Well this weekend I sorta gave up I'm not officially giving up because you never know but I only have 3000 and a half words so far I do have in mind whats going to happen from where I am I just need to get to writing it. Either way every year I'm still gonna do it. I think starting on Nov. 4th when I first heard about it definitely didn't help either.
