I never saw Biggie Smalls or Eminem stammer out a bunch of ums and uhs at any award shows they happened to be at. Your confidence on stage does not suddenly change when you go from speaking with music behind you to speaking with music not behind you. That confidence is won by being on the stage. Period. If you had performing experience you would know this.
Why you can't seem to let go of trying to defend the fact that it was a shoddy unrehearsed speech speaks volumes about you.
He's been making music and rapping since he was a teenager. He's performed his music in front of crowds. He has experience rapping in high pressure situations. He doesn't have experience extemporaneously speaking in high pressure situations. He's a performer, not a public speaker. Public speaking isn't the same as rapping. Do you think Eminem would make a good press secretary? Was Biggie Smalls a motivational speaker?
It's odd how everyone seems to understand this except you.
As opposed to his verse which he got through without ums and uhs. TOTALLY different situation there right? Completely unrelated to, you know, memorizing a short speech explaining his verse. Oh wait, it's exactly the same. Stop trying to defend improving a speech in front of the president.
1) The Federalist Papers were published in New York City, and their influence did not extend far beyond that vicinity. 2) "Yes, he was for a strong centralized government due to the fact that he didn't trust the American people to make informed decisions due to a technological inability to pass along info" A novel and innovative premise. What is your source?
I could see how you would think Hamilton was a traitor. He helped shape the Constitution, was arguably the main reason for its ratification through his writing of the Federalist Papers, and was George Washington's chief advisor during the Revolutionary War (you know, the one that gave us freedom?) Yes, he was for a strong centralized government due to the fact that he didn't trust the American people to make informed decisions due to a technological inability to pass along info. Use your head.
And I suppose you've spoken in front of the leader of the free world many times, correct? Because it would be incredibly ignorant to think that introducing a work of art to the President as the finale of a White House poetry event is as easy as memorizing and practicing a speech in your bedroom.
soth the 69th it doesnt matter how many times u practice when your performing for the president in the white house its different when you sing its an honor to play fr him and you mess you look stupid so dont hate enjoy it dont go from vid to vid critisizin i think he did awesome
Um's and uh's are more than just poor memorization. Lin Manuel clearly spends most of his time memorizing an extremely large amount of information (be it songs etc). Sometimes an "uh" or an "um" is a nervous reaction spawned maybe from . . I dunno, speaking in front of the PRESIDENT?

Just a thought.
