Michael Jackson to be Buried in 14 karat $25,000 Custom Casket

Michael Jackson's public memorial service will be held on Tuesday at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles where the music icon had been rehearsing for his O2 concerts. And the service will be simultaneously telecast at the adjacent Nokia Theatre. But only a lucky few will get to attend the ceremony.

All of 17,500 tickets will be selected randomly from a draw of lots. Each person is entitled to two tickets which will be free of cost. But the funeral service is open to US residents only.

Michael Jackson will be buried in a Promethaen coffin. Worth £15,000, this hand-polished, custom made coffin will have 14-carat gold-plate finish and blue velvet-lined interior.

The same model was chosen by relatives of James Brown, the Godfather of Soul, for his burial. Infact Michael Jackson had attended Brown's funeral in 2006 and had studied the casket and others on display from up close.

Meanwhile, with the demise of the Pop King his memorabilia is much in demand.

His white glove - which he wore on his 1984 Victory Tour - is all set to be auctioned by Los Angeles based auction house Profiles In History in October. Along with this, the rhinestone shirt popularised during the American Music Awards, will also be up for grabs.
