anyone who says the shot was lucky is a dumba** plain and simple. Mario is a shooter...designed play or not, the kid probably practiced that scenario and shot a million times in the gym and his driveway growing up. to say it is "lucky" is to prove you know jack sh*t about basketball. Winners hit shots under pressure, and Mario is a winner.

I forgot the 3 Chalmers hit against Memphis was the identical play they used against Texas.
-
i remember that i had the same reaction

@StreetBallin12 well video games are not really made to show how good someone can do
-
my threes with him in 2k10 never go in

No doubt. I'm glad they weren't ready for it though. It's all about the forward who inbounds the ball to get in front of Sherron and set screens basically clearing the way. It's a simple play, but once that ball get to and is allowed to leave Mario's hand there's not much else a defender can do.

I was totally shocked Memphis wasn't prepared for this play in the '08 title game. KU ran this play to beat Texas here in 2007, and once again in an attempt to beat Oklahoma State in 2008, The play was one of Self's favs, and I remember being amazed that Memphis didn't know it was coming.

I mean obviously the shot in the 2008 National Championship game was much more dramatic and spectacular, but anyone who claims that Mario just his some random lucky shot should be pointed to this video. Not to mention KU ran this exact play other times as well with tweaks of course.

Yea, that was my first thought too. I'd totally forgoten about this one.

Anyone notice how similar this play is to a certain shot in 2008? Of course Sherron stayed on his feet for this one.
lol same play as championship game.
Go Heat!
