Hey guys, welcome back to Clevver Movies, your number source for movie news. I'm Tatiana Carrier, and those of you who loved Charles Bronson's 'Death Wish' franchise might be in for a surprise this summer. Joe Carnahan, the director of the already-popular 'The Grey' has been hired to write and direct a remake of 'Death Wish.' The original 1974 film starred Bronson as a man who goes on a vigilante manhunt after his wife and daughter are brutally attacked. The film spawned four sequels over the next twenty years, making Bronson a household name.

The new reboot will be produced by 'The Grey' producer Jules Daly and Ridley and Tony Scott's Scott Free Productions. Carnahan previously wrote and directed 'The A-Team' and also directed 'Smokin' Aces.'

So do you guys have a newfound 'Death Wish?' Let us know by commenting below and keep checking back in with Clevver Movies for all your movie news. I'm Tatiana Carrier, thanks for tuning in.

  • it will work if Liam Neeson plays Bronson's Character...

  • In my Opinion The original Death Wish is a classic & the only way to make a good remake is if Liam Neeson played Paul Kersy

  • eddie?

  • One bit of Death Wish trivia known to those who’ve read a lot about the film’s early development is that Sidney Lumet was originally looking at adapting the Brian Garfield novel that Michael Winner eventually turned into the film starring Charles Bronson. Lumet was looking at casting Jack Lemmon in the role of accountant Paul Benjamin, whose wife is killed and daughter incapacitated by a violent attack.that version would not glorify vigilante violent. I think Carnahan will think around this root

  • he made " Smoken' aces"and "the A' team" that why they gave him the new death wish movie? I will always love the real "Mechanic"and the real "Death Wish" but If there has to be a remake let someone else make a movie other then Liam Neeson or Jason S If your going to do it make sure that they have the same baggage as Bronson. he was as tough as Chuck Norris is now back when chuck was in diapers. he didn't ask to be know by only one name it was just all he need

  • Charles Bronson was the man who made the original "Death Wish" the classic hit it is today. He made four sequals and as far as I'm concerned no one can duplicate the success he brought to those movies. A perfect example is the remake of "The Mechanic" another Charles Bronson classic which bomb at the box office.

  • I can soo see Liam Neeson doing a Death Wish remake, hes at the perfect age, and hes golden at doing the whole vengance thing. Infact I think Neeson shud hav always played Max Payne really, and I think Im the only person on the friggin planet whos ever thought this! lol, I think Neeson wud make absolutely badass Bond Villain too, he'd wipe the floor with Daniel Craig!! NEESON ALL THE WAY!

  • STOP WITH THE REMAKES! Hollywood Hacks!

  • Leave Death Wish ALONE

  • You can't replace Bronsan. Though Liam Neeson would be the best bet.

  • i think its a good idea if they remade this series but i think it would be a good time to introduce a new actor in the business

  • will be bland as fuck. even at R level. plus wasnt kevin bacon doing that revnege thing in a movie a few years back with the saw guys?
