Were on our epic quest to make a ASCII platformer, I'm not sure what it will be about yet but it will be awesome!

In this episode we set up shop, get the font running and work on rendering our ASCII magic.

  • Frankly as poor as threading functionality is, I use Java. For any game that isn't MASSIVE it should run fine. You couldn't make a dwarf fortress clone but a basic platformer? Sure.

  • I prefer c++

  • NOOOE! Python! Curse you, you foul competitor of C++ !!! lol jk, great vids.

  • haha, Wow I'm making an ascii game in C++ and just randomly typed this into youtube to see if other people had some tips or something (I'm trying to figure out how I will implement double buffering) and happened to stumble upon one of your videos! I was recently watching a lot of your DF ascii sector and mine craft videos.

  • Any particular reason for not using some Curses bindings for Python? :)
