As a bassist, I agree. BUT I'd also point out that some of the most fun stuff, that gets people dancing in their seats is also very, very simple. Complex or hard does not by itself make for something musically interesting or fun to listen to. I also love the octave slap, but I also am kinda shitty :p

I love those people in the crowd that don't know a thing about bass. The second someone plays an octave with slap, the crowd goes ape shit, while the bassist thinks, "What the hell are they so happy about?"
But he is a very good bassist no doubt!
