Coppicing ash in Cobbs wood at Wimpole where Niel Smith was making hedge laying stakes and the Trekpaard horses were extracting ash poles for firewood. Tea time was with a kelly kettle
You might get yourself a small single-horse forwarder for the future if the profit from the poles warrants it. Larger payload, less handling, & greater efficiency for you.
@keidas0 Thanks for the reply it means alot! Can you make a video of what the stumps look like before the process begins? Maybe from beginning to end-the finished product. I love your videos, the more the better. Maybe another on the mantenance of a larger horse? Or also the harness and equipment that they require. Thanks again!
POLES MOSTLY USED FOR FIRE WOOD BUT HAVE BEEN USING SOME FOR MAKING HANDLES FOR AXES ETC, SMALLER ONES MAKE STAKES FOR HEDGE LAYING AND COPPICING IS CUTTING THE TREES LOW AND LETTING THEM RE-GROW WHICH THEY DO AND PRODUCE MORE POLES QUICKER AS THE ROOTS ARE WELL DEVELOPED BUT SHOOT ALL DEER COS THEY LOVE EATING THE NEW SHOOTS AND i LOVE EATING THE DEER
