SAN JOSE, CA -- November 8: This Wednesday night on the campus of San José State University, students and community leaders will gather to discuss the effect of the Great Recession on the Golden State, with a focus on poverty, houselessness, foreclosures, and budget cuts. Students will then sleepout in a tent-city to dramatize the fact that 5.6 million Californians now live in poverty (15.3%) and that out of the 25 metro areas hardest hit by unemployment in the U.S., 9 out of the top 10 areas are in California.
Organizers: Co-Presidents, Dijana Sirovica and Eric Acedo, Gulf Coast Civic Works.
