Dear God - XTC Cover by Shift

Cover of XTCs 'Dear God'. This is our interpretation of XTCs atheistic song 'Dear God', an awesome some with a great message - 'religion is silly'. Ever since first hearing it we've been wanting to cover it and it seemed to be begging for the metal treatment!

When we play covers we like to put our own stamp on them and change things around a bit rather than just play a straight copy, so hopefully we've captured the essence of the song and done it justice, but keep that in mind when listening.

@GodisTruthseekTruth You keep repeating the same thing, either come up with a decent argument for the existence of God or at the very least address mine and others criticisms of why we think you are wrong. Even if your God did exist I cannot and will not worship a dictator who is quite happy to commit mass genocide, stone people to death for working on the sabbath or murder the first born son of all Egyptians (i'm assuming babies are innocent) - you call that love???

The USA homeland has been one of the most peaceful and prosperous places to live on Earth overall (excluding the Civil War), and it has been packed with Bible-reading colonists and Christians.

@GodisTruthseekTruth There are many countries that are far more impoverished and violent than the USA and they have a higher percentage of Christians. The US also has one of the highest percentages of children living below the poverty line - your point is?

Many people enjoy rejecting God but don't understand when they reject God, they reject His gifts as well. God is light & light is a gift from God. Where there is not light, darkness remains. God is law & order. Reject God & law & order goes out the door. Maybe it's fun if you are the aggressor, but what happens when the tables turn on you? Your life & this world is a miracle from God. Is it really so hard to believe He can do far more? God has given us everything and without Him we have nothing.

@GodisTruthseekTruth As for God, he sacrificed his own son - how in the world is that a divine act? - it's completely immoral and abhorrent - not to mention deceitful - it's a faux sacrifice because he knew Jesus would rise again - so not real sacrifice at all.

My life is not a miracle from God, there is no supporting evidence for your God whatsoever (just like Thor or zues etc.) - again i refer you to the actual history of the bible instead of reading the stupid thing itself.

2. If God can provide the existence of God more powerful than he is, then he is not omnipotent (because a more powerful God could potentially do more than him)

3. If God cannot provide the existence of a God more powerful than he is, then he is not omnipotent (because it would be a limit to his power to do such thing)
