Music was once a means of expression, I know I'm talking about the stone age days, but I'd prefer that on our "modern" world. Stanley Clarke and Ndugu Chancler are amoung the very few students even music is priviliged to have. They have not only taken the legacy of convention ahead, but also made their own impressions on the way their respective instruments are played as well as the description of music. Patrice Rushen is just what was required to let the two maestros fly away without worrying for the music to remain understandable for the audience. A Sonny Rollins composition, and mind it, a tricky one indeed but done so effectively that it takes the listener to a trance like state which is more like a trip, with a slight change that you don't want it to end !!

  • WOW. This guy is by far the most underrated drummer in music period. So versatile and intelligent and i like how alot of people dont know who he is in terms of mainstream

  • Damn!!!!!!!!! Ndugu showed what real drumming should sound like. I tip my hat to Ms. Rushen, Mr. Clarke, and Mr. Chancler. Kudos!

  • @trippellol Youre absolutely right. It paints quite the picture actually. But its like looking at a painting... Total interpretation and the people that can grasp how amazing this is.. Its special and speaks to them personally. I know alot of people that would watch this and think so whats the big deal. But thats it exactly.. I can see the beauty and greatness in this work of art where others might not catch it or really get. Yes he played w michael but alot of folks dont know the whole spectrum

  • @bmillerdrums He may be underrated, but the fact that he played with Michael Jackson and plays jazz like this paints a picture…

  • its in 4

  • Wow.... what's the time signature?

  • Leon, Patrice, Stanley......wow

  • how jazz players watch themselves. how they play and pay attention to other's, so they can congratulate "live" on cool improvs. how they always show big smiles. that's what makes me happy everyday!

  • EPIC
