@SuperKawaiKitty I feel boys might be just as traumatized and humiliated. Boys' peers can be as unkind and merciless as girls'. For my son, shaving his hair off would be like being mutilated. Yes it grows back, but what a blow to his self-confidence if he didn't agree to being shaved. This little boy was adorable in the part. But we can disagree!

You know, I've always had the feeling that that scene would have been more poignant if the 'ugly duckling' had been a girl. I feel like girls have a bit of a close attachment to their hair, and would have been more upset over losing it.
