Surinam 1977 Part 1 of 4

In 1977 I did field work in Surinam recording music assisted by David Perez.
Two lps, now available as CD's. were released by Lyrichord as
FROM SLAVERY TO FREEDOM - MUSIC OF THE SARAMAKA MAROONS OF SURINAME, Lyrichord LLST 7354 andSURINAME - JAVANESE MUSIC, Lyrichord LLST 7317. The music we recorded of the Ndjuka was never released but can we heard as the soundtrack accompanying these images.
Our guide into the interior was Andre Pakosie who is now a PhD in Ethnopsychology and runs an institute for Maroon Studies in Holland http://www.maroons-suriname.com

@barukatube Wake up African Sranange sound & look like any tribe in Africa..pick one,if not all..fyi, slavery was conducted in all parts of Africa(check out all the colonial and arab-slave trader forts all over Africa)...west africa, Goree, among others,just happened to be the closest to the, "new world"....As such, it is a misconception to assume, even by the stolen brethren, that they all came from "west" Africa, leave alone from one or two tribes,as many claim..All in all Hello Africa !
