The Stones were really a more commercial version of the Pretty Things. These guys were harder, rawer and more engaging. They may be equal musicians too - they really could play. Unfortunately they lacked the song writing talent of the Stones and were rarely sober.

Midnight To Six Man - The Pretty Things [England] - 1965 - "the song is a BRASH, roaring celebration of the group's nocturnal pursuits on London's club scene." - Nuggets II: Original Artyfacts From The British Empire And Beyond, Vol. 1-2001. NOTE The Pretty Things was one of my better finds. :-)
