The challenge makes available $200 million (160 million euro) for fresh and innovative ideas for a cleaner, smarter and more efficient electric grid.

i don't hear anything about geothermal energy , or tidal or wave energy or some teslaesk energy we can't grasp with our little monkey minds.
innovating the future? these people are just businessman and lawyers ,
completely useless effort here, even if it was well meaning out of some bizarre reason .
we have to slow down? some people might get screwed if we change fast ?
who is that exactly ? banks ? corporations ?

I don't like the idea of increasing nuclear energy much but it appears to be the only pragmatic solution for my country. Looking at the recent all round failures of ethanol-energy unless someone comes up with a newer/better version of something like Tesla's tech, we would be nuts not to take the pragmatic approach.

noooooo pleaase not the north african solar "desertec" it has already been born dead in germany.
solar paneels will be double as expensive in a couple of years once the inflation destroyes the euro.
