the way I understand it is that the teddy bears represent our need for somebody.. we all need somebody to love, to hate, to kiss, to hurt, etc.
Of course it is a bit more subtile in real life but we all define ourselves in our relationship with others.
All right, my head hurts. At least I tried... ;)
