@Astrobrant2 any umpire ever would throw someone out if they swore at them. i umped major league baseball in little league and threw a coach out for calling me a fucker. i admit it was a bad call, but you dont ever disrespect an umpire in baseball

@Konyak0 I was 38 years old in 1988. Umpires have NEVER tolerated that kind of behavior and this is just another utterly unrealistic scene, which seems to be an industry imperative in movies about sports.

And what the hell was the catcher doing standing several feet in front of the plate when the throw came in? He wouldn't so that even if this was a high school game.

@Astrobrant2 Actually, there was a time in baseball where most umpires had high tolerance to these kinds of reactions. This is quite accurate for its time(1988).
