@MrStephenRGilman You know what? I don't think this is a happy ending anymore.But not even a sad ending.Something in between for sure.There are many other ways to see it, most of which are probably unintended, but certainly completely valid.This entire movie is a very intense mix,between happiness and sadness,colours and darkness, comedy and depression.

But for me that's the sign of a great film,making you feel and combine all sorts of emotions to give you a brand new feeling.

@DeepEye1994 Yes, I believe that's the point of the ending. The one place the state can't get at you is within your own mind. On this point, one could argue that Brazil seems to disagree with Orwell's 1984, because Winston Smith is indeed "reprogrammed" at the end to love Big Brother.

an amazing movie, i have a strong feeling that anyone who doesn't appreciate it suffers from high brain deficiency. It's not even a matter of taste. This is art, cinema is an art but much like music became just another way to make tons of money selling cheap crap to the general public and dumbing them down even more, lowering their standards. Here's how crap is made - just take sth valuable and shit it out, you will get a stinking meddle without any form and with questionable content and taste.

Alright i just watched sucker punch for a good horny laugh ....I am certain that the whole ending was ripped off from this one ...Only in a more horribly derivative and corny way .
