  • No matter how good of a movie it is or will be, these fans will just focus on the changes made to the movie and criticize it, even if the changes were good. Its like nothing will impress these fans,

I know for a fact this movie will turn out to be a transformers type probably even better. But since the movie has a HUGE fan-base its almost a cult, that will stop this movie into being such a great success. Which will be unfortunate if it was to happen.

  • After NEMESIS how can any Trek fan slag off JJ?

The guy is HOT right now and everything he touches turns to gold - Trek fans could have done a lot worse.

  • the applause for nimoy was so loud!

  • "Basically, canon has LONG been a creative shackle to furthering this series. It can only go forwards by sacrificing parts of what is established canon"

Why? I think this is a false either/or situation. The problem only exists if they do the dumb thing and do a prequil movie or series. Gene Roddenbury effectivly managed to make Trek new and relevent to a contemoroary audience without ruining cannon (in 1987) when he made TNG, why cant thier be a third generation that does the same thing?

  • JJ Abrams hasn't contributed to Lost since the first season. The reason Lost is good is because of Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse. Now Lindelof is a producer on the Star Trek movie, but if you're basing your excitement based on the creativity of Lost, you might be disappointed.

I do agree with you, though, that his detachment from the series will be a plus - a nice balance to Orci and Kurtz being die-hards.

  • Basically, canon has LONG been a creative shackle to furthering this series. It can only go forwards by sacrificing parts of what is established canon - i.e. to "reboot" it. Now for me Lost is the most creatively original and well written piece of TV since the seminal 1960's show The Prisoner - so I'm totally convinced that they picked the right man to reboot Trek. The fact he isn't a die hard fan is a bonus, as he won't be creatively shackled. He has just the right amount of reverence for it.

  • I agree with you '0123kid', many Trekkies are fools unto themselves and are slowly killing the franchise. They really do believe they own it, and nitpick anything from the shade of paint used for the Enterprise to the length of the nacelles (you think I'm kidding? These are actual critisisms I've read on forums).

But please don't paint us all with the same brush. Many of us are not stuffy like that, and the majority are looking forwards to JJ's rebooted Trek. Live long and prosper!

  • Radness

  • WOW what a complete jerkoff you must be.That comment was 9 months ago, when the movie trailers first started to appear.Fucking idiot,of course i know its a prequel fucking wanker, judging by your channel your probably young,so shut the fuck up i was probably watching star trek before you touched your first tit.JJ use marketing campaigns filled with little clues or keeps the script so secret so nobody know what hes done to Gene Roddenberrys genius vision of our possible future.Prove you wrong pfft

  • vanished001, from your comment im going to assume you did fuck-all research on the new movie before venting your sorry-ass spleen on youtube. The reason Kirk is back is because its a PREQUEL dumb-ass. Also, i reckon you don't like J.J because he's one of the only original guys in Hollywood right now, and you're jealous because you saw how awesome Cloverfield was and wished you'd thought of it. If you think you're still right about J.J being overrated, how about you TRY and prove me wrong?
