  • I had forgotten this! Nigel's big hit was "Put on Your Dancing Shoes". I saw him perform both live at McNichols Arena in Denver, Colorado during an Elton john concert. I was 20. Think about it... Nigel had been doing background vocals for Sir Elton for ten years at that time, and very beautifully at that time. It was time for Nigel to shine. Alas, McNichols Arena is now gone, and Nigel has faded from our memories.

  • @fhComfortablyNumb He still plays drums for Elton John, or I should say again because he left and came back. I met him in 2007. Nice guy.

  • I was so lucky to meet nigel olsson at an east end lights expo one time i got his autograph and also davey johnstone and pictures taken with them too,it was a moment i will never forget, it still gives me chills when i think about it.

  • I have had the luck to meet him also last year. What a wonderful, sweet man he is!

  • is nigel gay? i know hes in elton johns band

  • No he is married and has kids.

  • Thanks for adding this! Wow! It has been 30 years since I heard this version; it's never played on radio anymore! A true blast from the past!

A Little Bit of Soap was one of the top 40 songs the week of April 14, 1979, when I purchased my first issue of Billboard Magazine. "What a Fool Believes", "I Will Survive" and "Knock on Wood" occupied the top 3 that week.

  • woe!!! i wish the 70s were back

  • Love this song..is that Nigel on the drums in this song? Good drummer whoever it is..phat and steady beats. The beat reminds me of Hot Child in the City.

  • YES!!!!!! I FOUND IT!!!!!!!!! ;-D

  • @copa777 Dismal decade? I hope you dont mean the music. The 70s was the best decade for music ever.

  • I love this song! I had it on a 45 vinyl! Long time ago!

  • 1979 (16 years old)

I had just got my license and remember getting the car and driving to this song on the radio...Pioneer AM/ FM 8 Track...now that's AWESOME!!

  • I've always wondered why Nigel Olsson didn't make it big in a solo career. He certainly has talent and a good voice. I loved his solo albums.

Hearing this again makes me remember the better parts of the 1970s. He and Elton were the bright parts of a somewhat dismal decade, but still... there were some magical things from back then that can never be duplicated nor repeated.

  • Nice version of a great song.

  • This song is ace and super and has been done by many artists and it is worth listening to ten billion times over.

  • Nigel hit #34 in Billboard, 6-9--79. Produced by Paul Davis. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx! RIP, brother Paul. See you in Heaven.
