this is the method I use to paint acrylic paintings. no drawing skill required. If you want learn how to use acrylic paint and don't want to spend a ton of cash on supplies I'll show you how. The supplies are student grade and inexpensive. you can get them all for under $15.

  • hey can i do this with any photograph, because the alicia keys picture you used looked like it had the perfect lighting for posterize and desaturating, thanks

  • This is exactly the gimp tutorial I've been looking for. Thank you!!

  • Must computers invade every part of our lives? Even the artistic ones? Painting from a photo lifted from a computer is not painting....excuse me for stating a simple truth.

  • And also, your work is wonderful. :)

  • I have read all these comments that seem to fight with eachother and all I'm thinking is, why does it matter?! Art comes to different people in different ways. Sometimes it does help to use a computer, but sometimes it's better to try it on your own. There's nothing wrong with a little help. Every artist is different in their techniques. And art will always be changing with time, and that might mean using computers as assistance.

  • Thanks so much forr making these- it must have been alot of hard work- so thanks and ur r really talented

  • @mondocaneman So what if you're a teacher or professional?

Like you said 'creativity comes from the mind and heart' not from your qualifications or age so your point is null.

I agree with Saint778, what you failed to mention is that art/creativity etc can be expressed through different media. He chose a computer, so be it, the title was misleading, fine, but don't come here being condescending with your qualifications and whatever else cos we're all here to learn....well maybe not all of us =|

  • ps......please dont call this painting... :)

    nice work all the same

  • you are correct sir!

having said that....if you put a pc infront of me and told me to paint...i would have no idea..so maybe it is a skill!...'saint7781' is also right.. we should keep an open mind..particularly in our technological age...

..in the art world.. every one is right...arent they? :)

  • anyway children.....back to the video!

i agree with both of you...there isnt any acrylic paint here!

so thats the point of what you were both

originally argueing about. we all agree so give it a rest already...class dismissed!

    sheeeeesh!
