We are a mere two months away from unveiling Calgary Opera's newest world premiere, and the production team is working on getting the final touches ready. Construction on the set began back in the spring of this year. Calgary Opera constructs all of its new sets in the EPCOR CENTRE for Performing Arts shop space as it is the only shop equipped for the needs of a theatre company. This same shop is used by Theatre Calgary and Alberta Theatre Projects.
Unfortunately for Calgary Opera, the ceiling height on the shop was just not high enough to accommodate the fully assembled set for The Inventor. Though the set was far from complete, it was important for the Calgary Opera production crew to be sure that the frame of the set would function as a whole. On July 14th, 2010, Calgary Opera was able to rent the Max Bell Theatre for a test fit-up of the set.
