becky does your varnish last against poopies?
and what is its name so i can look for it on the web.
the idea of waiting for smelly varn to leave puts me off so much.

@LTOP13 Hiya hunny, yes if applied properly then the varnish is hard enough to take a little beating like claws, poops etc. As for cleaning do not use a scouring pad as eventually it will take the varnish off so I always use a soft sponge.
The varnish is called "Polyvine matt finish" And I normally get it off ebay. It dries very quickly and does not smell. I usually apply 5-6 thin coats.

does it matter what sort of paint is used (i.e. non toxic or is that normal im not sure) + first comment yay!!!

@deadsea60 Hiya hunny, I prefer to use non solvent paints because of the fumes and it's harmful. Also the fumes take days even weeks to go away and you can't house any animal inside until it's odour free. This is why I use waterbased paints like auto air, acrylic or household paint from your DIY store. I also use a non toxic varnish (Polyvine matt) as well as it dries quickly and is odourless.
