I got "Message from the Country" in the early 1980's and was impressed with Jeff's compositions "What" and " Words of Aaron" but ultimately I thought his last LP with the Idle Race had both the lyrics and a less strident heavy sound.
This tune seems to take The Move in a totally different musical direction compared to their previous style. Jeff sure had a lot to offer as a song writer even back then.
You are very hip, my young friend, I've not heard that much of The Move. This song is great.I just know the 'Message From the Country' album.Gotta pick this one up.
I have been a Jeff Lynne fan for 35 years and never heard this song - WOW! I am blown away. Amazing! I would love to hear his take on this today

This is my favorite too. I also, always felt this was what Jeff Lynne on acid sounds like. lol :)

Fantastic, My favorite Jeff Lynne Move Track, check out Ian Dury's "What A Waste" I Wonder if Dury had this track in his mind when he wrote it.

The greatest - but underrated - Brit rock band of that era - way ahead of their time!
Thanks for this!

Wonder the ELO didn't re-record this (they did with Do Ya). It was far too good to have remained buried on a semi-obscure Move LP for so long.

I think this is one of the first GREAT songs of Jeff...I like the combination of the chords very much...I enjoy to play it with my guitar.
I think both,Jeff and Roy,were genius of composition, but Lynne's songs begun to be the base of future ELO...
