Let's Play The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past - Part 11

Part Eleven: Lanmolas

Well, Link finally seemed to be able to gain the high ground...and with a new set of gloves, too! Yes, the Power Gloves now enables our hero to lift heavy (light blue) objects high above his head and clear paths otherwise unaccessable to the common peasant. Behind such an obstacle is the entrance to the second phase of the Desert Palace, and a straight path to the den of the guardians of the Pendant of Power (ain't it s'post to be red? Oh well...). Along the way, Link discovers several rooms so heavily influenced by the power of evil that the floor tiles themselves try to do harm to him. After the return of the dreaded tickling popos and the freakish eyegores (not to mention a field of fire from beamos akin to a futuristic warzone), Link stumbles upon three colossal sand worms, collectively named the Lanmolas. Though mindless and blind, these nasty jawed worms reacted to the vibrations of Link's footsteps on their sandy sanctuary, and reveled at the thought of a tasty lunch. The Lanmolas erupted from the sand, showering debris all over the place. The powerful jolts also launched melon-sized stones in various directions, causing Link to duck and dodge to avoid the deadly projectiles. It was another seemingly doomed situation...but our hero had prevailed yet again. By driving his sword into the faces of these deadly fiends, Link managed to subdue the sand worms and retrieve the second pendant. With another fanfaric shake of his tush, Link left the sandy dungeon behind, another step closer to retrieving the powerful Master Sword!

Lanmolas are a subspecies of the Grabboids, a species of subterranean predators from the Tremors series. Unlike Grabboids which sense their prey through vibrations and can drag unsuspecting prey underground, Lanmolas blindly throw themselves through the air in the vain hope that prey may be in their flight path.

Hey Doc, if you ever get the Wii, get a Motion Plus, and LoZ Skyward Sword. Also if at all possible have a friend come over a chat with you as you play it it might add some spice in a manner of speaking.
