Great video!

Haneke does look at different types of violence, familial, self inflicted, media, etc. However, I agree for the most part. Lars is a much greater film maker, and also he isn't really misogynistic, seeing as he almost always comments on his films saying that the lead female is the representative of his feminine side; even though Lars is a tricky bastard who 95% of what he says is bullshit anyway. I think you're too hard on Haneke, he's an incredible filmmaker, but no one can live up to LVT.

i agree in some way, haneke isn't very creative and very traditional but his goal is to give clear messages. i think a movie like cache can be much more understood for us europeans, it's about the prejudices with people from africa(even asia or southamerica) haneke feels a bit guilty and all of us europeans should feel it.
for me that movie, or la pianiste are better than anything trier has ever done (imo), and i like dogville very much.

@elcevichero Kudos to you elcevichero. Calicatty you're nuts, firstly I don't see how they're work is all that comparable. Not only that but alot of the stuff you say Haneke doesn't or hasn't done in his movies he has. It's on tape watch it again. elcevichero has made an excellent point

Interesting take on Von Trier and Haneke. I love Von Trier but The Piano Teacher may have mest me up more the AnitChrist. Not to say one is better then the other because they are both great films

No europeans ever gonna tap the genius level of Michael Bay or Wes Anderson, they just repeating theyselves plus I don't speak European or feel like reading movies besides Letters from Iwojima, that shit was sick. Clint's the manbeast!

I am in love with you. and it only took you 9 minutes.

You're an extremely smart lady :)
I love both Von Trier and Heneke, but Trier always steps up his game. I however did prefer White Ribbon to Antichrist.

Von trier is an auteur that owes a great deal to Tarkovsky but Haneke Really doesn´t owe nothing to no one, he is an artist on its own as well as Von Trier, but the last one its a little bit pompous to say in a press conference that he is the best Film maker in the world....???' who is greater than who, how can a pompous american 17 year old can discuss the depth of Haneke, and aslo to missunderstood all the messages and the plot "that exists and its very clear and explicit" in Antichrist?????
and finally - ever thought of von trier as misogynistic? seen dogville? breaking the waves? antichrist? notice the symbol on the "t" in the title of his latest film? i.e., woman = antichrist? von trier is a talented film maker but he's got personal issues that burden his work. the cinematographer of antichrist, however, deserves major accolades.

Yup. He's pretty misogynistic. And he likes portraying weird sexual circumstances on screen. I don't hold it against him because, as I noted, his innovation and creativity go far beyond traditions.
Also, I think Haneke is more of a misogynist; if you're interested I can send you a paper on the subject.
