Guys if you end up confused by the binary he has them in the order "8,4,2,1". so instead think about it as "1,2,4,8" it makes it easier to calculate and easier to wire up

Finally thank you, been sitting around with a binary counter, a 7 segment display and a decimal decoder just needed to know to hook up the binary to the decimal decoder, thanks a ton, I now understand.

Now in the 1.7.3 update the redstone wires will lock onto the input part of the repeater. =)

where is part 4? when i search for display or display tutorial it doesn't show up :O

I was looking around the interwebs for a compact way to do this, and then I watched this video and realized that I could use the same exact way as my display mechanism.
Thanks a lot for this tutorial, it's great to see someone who actually knows what they're talking about for once.
is it possible, in an easy way, to put the binary to decimal decoder in two layers?
and next to that, Your video's are great! each one of them!

@ThaUnpronounceable Maybe, but I doubt it. There are too many lines which need to be crossed.

@ThaUnpronounceable Mine was in 3, right? That's good enough for me. I think 2 would be wishful thinking :D Then again, the supercompact one I used kinda does that, but I don't really understand every bit of it.
