Elton John fala sobre Laura Nyro

Neste video (um extrato do programa "Spectacle Elvis Costello with...") Elton John fala sobre a importância da obra de Laura Nyro e a tremenda influência da cantora em sua carreira.

Ao comentar sobre as peculiaridades de Nyro ao compor, suas marcas de estilo, ele demonstra diretamente como isso o influenciou em algumas de suas canções.

Além disso, John fala sobre Patti LaBelle (com quem Laura gravou o disco "Gonna Take a Miracle", em 1971), a turnê que fizeram juntos, e as dificuldades financeiras pelas quais alguns artistas de R&B e da gravadora Montown passaram nos anos 60.

Thanks for posting this. I must research this series and this episode. Laura still rules from the other side. Yes, a lot of people are were definitely influenced by her. Both Patti Smith and Diamanda Galas were too, I know for a fact. Peace.

@Anfibius its true. sadly, most of the starrs of the early rock and roll era were only paid for performances; not mechanical royalties from sales, not airplay, not residuals, not for liscensing. the lucky ones got a stipend/per diem that if they wer lucky wasn't charged against their performance fees. and for many its impossible to renegotiate those old deals. example; charlie thomas of the drifters was until recently doing 100 shows a year and for a time was basically homeless.

@isa18575 a laura nyro foi uma das maiores cantoras de R&B dos anos 60.,ela influenciou cantores como Joni Mitchell, Suzanne Vega, Elvis Costello e Elton John. ela nasceu 18/10/1947 e morreu 08/04/1997. ela mudava com maestria o ritmo da musica em que ela tocava.

vou lhe dar uma dica :veja no youtube o grande album em que ela se consagrou :Eli and the 13th confession (1968).
