@gjhotch The ancestors of the Hero of Time were wiped out by the flood before Wind Waker. It's explained in Wind Waker that this Link had no actual connection to the Hero of Time from the other games, thus why he's known as the Hero of Winds instead. He gets his title at the end of Waker.

@Lukefonfabre9 This is a different Link as the Ocarina of Time Link, though. This is the Link from Wind Waker, and in Wind Waker they say that he actually does not have any connection to the Ocarina of Time Link/Hero of Time.
