That is true. It's not an urban legend. The University of Southern California (USC) did a study on homosexual-parenting, and they reached the same conclusion. It's worthy of noting that USC is an advocate of homosexual-parenting and adoption. Before they conducted the study, they believed that there were "no differences" between children raised by homosexuals & those raised by heterosexual parents. Their study clearly refuted the "no differences" belief.

Estimates aren't around 8-12%. It's around 1.5-2%.
I see a lot of misinformation in these comments.

TimTrim - I wish it was that simple. I was kicked out of the house at 17 for being gay. I've been physically beaten up many times for the same reason. It's wonderful that you want to save the planet - I wish you well with it and I volunteer with an environmental charity myself. It's swell that you don't hate gays - but many people still do.
You've lived with significantly more rights and privileges than I do. I want to save the planet AND live in freely within it.

The failure here is that even though there isn't a recorded and recognized history of many American minorities the history of gays in the United States has become increasingly prevalent and promoted yet is still rejected. Even Fox News refused to report that the movie "Milk" is about a gay politician.
