Finding the right solution to developing the skills of its workforce has proven to be a good call for award-winning North East firm, 0800 REPAIR. The company fixes household goods, such as fridges, cookers and washing machines, for homeowners and major high street retailers such as LG Electronics and Panasonic.

Named as the Medium Employer of the Year in the North East final of the National Apprenticeship Awards 2010, 0800 REPAIR is happy to credit its Apprenticeship programme to the growth and expansion of its business.

As part of a national franchised brand, the company provides call centre duties for a number of big name national distribution centres and employs a team of 400 engineers. It plans to roll out 150 franchises as part of its expansion programme to meet growing customer demand.

Since taking on over 20 apprentices in the last five years, 0800 REPAIR has doubled in size, improved its levels of customer service and saved money on recruitment fees by promoting from within. It has also been able to introduce new services, such as a dedicated support hotline for its own customers.
