More than six million people in Ethiopia are in need of emergency aid. Afar is one of the worst affected regions. The livestock farmers do not want to rely on aid. But children are at risk of severe malnutrition

  • Fact: In the past year the only rains arrived in August. There are normally three rainy seasons. Fact: The last four years have seen poor rains. Fact: Poor rain means lack of pasture means dead livestock. The information in this film comes from local people and a local development agency. And from the regional government. It is not propoganda. It does not look down on Africa. The people's semi-nomadic way of life is under threat. That is the point.

  • "Deadly Drought"?I told you the region is a desert area many years.please do n't tell me the region has no green trees/grains. I knew it for many years.the people's way of life is displacing from place to place in search of grass for their animals and they never even dwell in specific area.this is a mere propoganda for western media to satisfy their own ego and to look down Africa. they are the first to say so many bad words and they will never say a word when we are in good.

  • What do you mean you can't see any drought here? There was a little rain in the August rainy season but none before that for a year. And the past three or four years have been the same. The people are pasturalists but they still rely on good rains. They need pasture for their livestock. Traditionally they are semi nomadic but this particular group has settled by the road because of the successive poor rains, which means they must rely on aid. It seems it is you who is not well informed.

  • I can n't see any drought here. this region is the most hottest area of the country. the people are not agricultralist. they are traders and they are nomads and animal breeder moving from place to place.

The western media are not well informed about that. I am sorry for that.
