This piece is Stephen Yates' first solo guitar composition. Entitled "The Girl Who Touched the Sky". He refers to it as a "musical triptych" as it consists of three movements. Evoking Chinese popular music, the guitar is made to mimic the sounds of the chinese violin and zither. "Deeply beautiful. Yates' playing is masterly." - Acoustic Magazine

  • The Right Reverend Carbuncle here, just putting tripod of FURY to one side for a moment. That's better. Wanted to say well done,Steve. Loved all 3 movements.Quite beautiful & delicate in places. Natural reverb of the hall does it justice. Had seen live session at CRAMP but doesn't hold a candle to this.Technique has come on loads.Loved note bending & fret sliding,You look very well but rather sombre at end. Which made me laugh.Look out for cheque. I'd like 5 CD's. Hope everthing OK.Spk soon.Mark

  • The CRAMP clip was awful. The sound stank,I couldn't hear myself over the audience talking and they put it on the net without asking me. At present I'm all out of CDs so I'll have to order a new batch. As for sombre: sombre is the new jovial or so I've been led to believe. Nice to hear from you.

  • WOW! Your really good. I like the song its catchy.

Have long have you been playing?

  • Thank you for your comment. I have been playing for over 30 years. By the way, I don't know why your comment was marked as spam. Not my doing.

  • Mate, I loved the whole thing, all three parts - you gotta put them up at your site so people can see them all together. About time you put something new there anyway! - George. :-)

  • Nicely done Steve :-)

  • A special sound Steve.... good to see you in action..... Graham Hawke ...your "old" Teacher

  • You looked evil at the end of that. Becca by the way.

  • Beautiful number 3 Stephen! Just remarkable. I have been playing for 38 years myself and believe me I think I have earned an apprenticeship to comment. I know who hard this stuff is to execute...The Whole sonata is just...well...formidable and staggering! Bravo! Lee Mitch...xxx
