@hongziyang Possible, but I get the feeling it would become tedious, even with a clever quick-release mount for the transceiver. The cables all disconnect very quickly and easily, except for the antenna connector. I read that the control cable is a straight-through RJ-45 cable, so you might be able get a cheap cat-5 cable for the house, and leave all the cables in place in the car. The trick will be finding a place for the transceiver that is secure, but easy to disconnect. It's pretty heavy.

so, may be a silly question... but how hard would it be to pull out and move inside (as a home base station as needed)?

I would run the wiring through the engine compartment through a grommet on the firewall. Having the wiring in between the door seal could wear out the wires pre maturely.

@Chadh4x Great advice. I had problems with my first mag mount which I ran through the door seal. It started cutting into the insulation after just a few weeks of normal use.

@n4mjg1 The suction cup attaches to the back of the panel with a screw, so you could probably rig something up. The screw is slightly smaller than a standard camera tripod mount.

So....... it looks like you've had this rig a while now. How would you rate it, PROS/CONS, I'm really thinking about buying this rig.

@bonkerz619 Works reliably, and it's a lot easier to use than other Yaesu gear IMO. I like the customizable screen, and I've even found myself using the stopwatch occasionally. I'm told the audio sounds good. I like the built-in APRS. There's a good review of it in the January QST, which I agree with for the most part. Only annoyance is an occasional unexplained beep in APRS mode. Also, when it transmits a beacon, it silences the receive audio on the other side, even TRX Mute turned off.
