  • that sounds waay different than the bell 206

  • It sure does, it makes a nice sound. I bet it would sound even better from the inside!

  • md900 and models alike from MD are pretty unique using no tail rotor, but its also very clever how they dont need to use one, i love the concept of having air being blown through the tailmast, but i still prefer the good ol' tail rotor and fenestron rotor configs =P

  • I actually grew up very close to Kaman, so am kind of used to the idea of non tail rotor choppers. I was actually lucky enough to see the Sikorsky Advancing Blade Concept (ABC) helicopter with coaxial counter rotating rotors. It was FAST!

  • the sound of that turbine screaming and the blades beating in the air gives me WOOD

  • been in one. i win:D

i was helped by londons air ambulance once which uses one of these helicopters, they like it as they can land it in very built up areas without worrying about their tail rotor.

please people GIVE MONEY TO YOUR LOCAL AIR AMBULANCE!!

  • @LTF85199 money

  • @douro20 they launched one or two main rotors over the years...

  • @steeltown98

I would consider the fenestron, or ducted fan tail, one of the most important developments in the history of the helicopter. It not only made the helicopter quieter, but also greatly improved high speed maneuverability.

Yes, but it had its problems- the complexity of the gearbox, for one thing, resulted in reliability issues.

  • Does anyone know why the NOTAR (no tail rotor) technology is not getting very popular?

  • @FPVsean nothing like the scream of a fenestron! u know the uscg is changing all of them out to ones with a lower noise signature :(

  • @lwkirk ...bloomfield... :) it was always so amazing how quiet those kmax's are!
