Brief review of the Cold Steel AK-47 and Mini AK-47 folding knives. Both knives have really nice grippy/ergonomic handles made of G10. Blades are 3.5 and 3" respectively made out of cryogenically treated AUS 8A stainless steel. They come razor sharp and both are fairly lightweight for the size. Both knives fit in the pocket nicely but if you are carrying the small one you will not even notice that its there. Blades are extremely sharp, easy to keep sharp with a leather strop and they are also easy to sharpen on a ceramic rod. The blades will hold an edge for a very long time and as long as you can strop them once a week with moderate use they will stay hair shaving sharp.

  • out of the mini and the full size ak-47s witch one wold you recommend for an EDC?

im currently carrying a Gerber para-frame 3 1/2" blade for an EDC.

  • @2012powerwagon Well if you already carry a 3 1/2" blade then I would say the full size however that Gerber Paraframe looks like its constructed to be pretty lightweight. The full size is 5.6oz and the mini is 2.9oz.

I personally carry the mini every day in my pocket (I wear dress pants) and love it. A real asshole would say buy both if you got the money ;)

Give me an update if you buy either and let me know how they compare to the gerber. Thanks. KILLERKOWALCZYK.

  • @killerkowalczyk i bought the full size one, i like it alot better then the Gerber witch is just a cheap EDC knife from walmart. i gotta get used to the g10 its different lol ive mostly used metal/wooden handled knifes.

  • @2012powerwagon I love the g10, I lifted the clip with a flat screwdriver and very lightly sanded underneath it with a fine grit sandpaper so that it wouldnt rip my jeans. NUTNFANCY put some type of glue/epoxy in that spot to make it smooth and painted it black but ive read that it doesn't actually work very well. My suggestion to you is to find a nice piece of leather about 2" wide by 2' long and some aluminium oxide to strop your knife and maintain its sharpness.

  • Where do you get your lanyards.

  • @gottschlichmatthew I make them out of 550 paracord. You can find paracord at any military surplus store or on amazon aswell. As for making the lanyards just look up videos on youtube (paracord lanyard). I try to make the lanyards to that I can barely fit my fist through and so that its tight on the hand if you place the lanyard in your hand while holding your knife, that way your hand cant slide down the blade if you stab somthing.
