King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia is visiting the UK today amid controversy. Human rights groups in Britain have called on the government there to react to allegations of the torture of women in the Saudi kingdom. Others are protesting the promotion of Islamic fundamentalist literature in UK mosques. The government says the King's visit is important due to Saudi Arabia's involvement in issues like the war on terror and the situation in Iran and Iraq.
NASA officials are adding another day onto shuttle Discovery's mission to get more information about a possibly faulty motor at the international space station. That motor apparently keeps the station's power-generating solar panels facing the sun. Discovery is now scheduled to return on Sunday.
Seven people dead after a suicide bomber blew himself up near the office of President General Pervez Musharraf. Musharraf was safely inside at the time. No one has claimed responsibility for the attack, but Pakistan has been targeted by a string of suicide attacks mostly blamed on Islamic extremists who are battling security forces near the Afghan border.
Israel is cutting fuel supplies to the Gaza Strip in response to months of Palestinian rocket attacks. Gaza officials say shipments of diesel fuel and gasoline are 30 percent smaller than regular deliveries. They're warning that cuts could cause widespread hardship in the impoverished area. Israel says the cutoff is a way to increase pressure on Gaza's Hamas rulers to stop attacks.
