One of the distinct features of the residence of Edward Krynicki (Director of Music, Church of the Palms, Delray Beach, FL) and John McGovern (Broward County FL, Department of Elder Affairs, LTCOP Administrator) in Boynton Beach, FL is that it houses a pipe organ - an uncommon aspect of most homes today - one of only a few in Palm Beach County,FL. During the summer of 2004 as part of their summer vacation, Ed and John assisted by John's brother Jim and a core of church volunteers at St. Andrew United Methodist Church, Spring Lake, NJ, the original home of the Reuter Opus 1087 (1954), began the ambitious task of moving this magnificent instrument to its new home in Boynton Beach FL. In its original configuration at St. Andrews the organ played as a unit organ of six ranks all enclosed. The church was in the process of procuring a new electronic organ; the original curator of the instrument, Don Davett (one of the original organists at Radio City Music Hall), negotiated the exchange between the church and the new owner. The organ in its new location played for the first time on Easter Sunday 2005 and has been a source of much delight to the owner and their many musically talented friends who have given concerts on the instrument. The organ now plays in two divisions and has been expanded to ten ranks with the addition (in the swell) of a vox humana (originally a part of the Austin organ (Opus 794) at St. Aedan, Jersey City, NJ 1918), 4' flauto traverso (originally Austin organ opus 1148), 16' fagottto (12 pipes) and (in the great) 4' octave, 2' fifteenth, 16' metal bourdon (12 pipes).

Full specifications for our home installation were as follows (originally six ranks at time of purchase):

  • @organostubularesmex Thank you very much for visiting. Please visit our other channel as well: churchofthepalmsdel.

  • It's great to see that these wonderful instruments aren't just being lost forever to time. Reuter is a wonderful builder of some of the best, and probably most underrated organs. I acquired Reuter Opus #380, and hopefully by December 2011, its installation and restoration at my residence will be complete. So, I'll be following your videos here with great interest! Thank you for sharing Opus 1087

with us, keep the videos coming, and may God bless...

    Mark

  • @dieselheart001 We move to a new home one year ago and are now in the process of reconstructing (and enlarging) the instrument along with reconfiguring to a new four manual console. As you can see from the video, the initial FL installation utilized the two manual console which we also obtained from the NJ church. Definitely a work in progress! Watch for new videos which will announce the resurrection (once again) of 1087

  • @dieselheart001 What state do you live in? We are in Boynton Beach, FL.

  • @dieselheart001 If you are on Facebook.... you can see some pictures at "John E McGovern."

  • Many kudos to Ed, a gifted and accomplished musician and his equally gifted partner John. I 've known these two wonderful people for years and enjoyed their beautiful home and seen the installation and expansion of this wonderful organ. To think that it is soon to be disassembled and then re-assembled will be a labor of love, but well worth the time and effort as it finds a place in its new home. Let this performance serve as a reminder of all the love and music enjoyed within these walls.

  • very nice, love the Christmas Carols

  • Jonni, Magnificente! In bella Roma ad multos annos

  • @dieselheart001 Hi Mark... and thanks for visiting. Such good news that another Reuter is in the process of being saved. You can read the history of how we acquired this instrument in the description. The person who was instrumental in helping us acquire #1087 recently died (Don Davitt). He was the curator of the instrument in its original location and helped convince the church that its new home should be Florida; otherwise it might still today be sitting in its original chamber.

  • @Alwaysapipedream . We too needed a bigger house (and now have it) and are in the process of reconstructing. We are also now up to 22 ranks with 14' ceilings.... and that makes a nice, big difference. Will post more videos once we are finished.... and that is many, many months away. Small miracle if we are finished by Christmas!
