Honestly, he really wasn't all that great until after all those unfortunate events that sidelined him for that year or year and a half stretch. I just wish he had developed that kind of focus beforehand. He may have been able to win one of the slams, who knows? Anyway, he's not one of the greatest American tennis players but he's one of my favorites. He seems like a real honest and likeable guy.

nadal is nice but i always thought that if he had a more aggressive game (not takin anything away from him) that he wouldn't have been so injured, u know wat im sayin. like club it some more like james, & a lil less defense....he's almost ALWAYS defensive. good thing he's back though...i thought that was it for him.

@ultimol i read his book too...i had more respect for him after. excellent player overrall. used to be a fan...it wore off..lol.

@nguyenimproved ... I agree with that comment because Nadal is such a natural and his attitude and physique is amassing but it is also true that Blake is a great personality and he has been through hell and back!! He deserves respect and on hard courts Blake is superb!!

I used to not really like Blake as a character, I felt that he was overrated, and since I had began following tennis, his play didn't seem very amazing. After reading his book, I have found so much more respect for him, considering all that he has accomplished, coupled with all of the hardships he had to endure.
