Another video from "Hollywood Heartbeat", or was it "Rockworld"? This one aired in Dec. of 1980 and was featured on one of those video shows.

  • Oddly enough in mono.

  • @DriveInFreak Considering the fact that I recorded it almost 30 years ago, it's not odd at all. However, if they were lip-syncing on this performance, I might be able to do a new soundtrack for it.

  • @morrisonAV

Hmmm. My last attempt didn't work for some reason...let's try it again.

That's understandable. Stereo TV hadn't come out yet and I don't think that MTV had even started doing their old FM simulcast at that point.

This one's so rare that I'm surprised anyone has it at all.

I was trying to joke about the title being "She Talks in Stereo" but the recording isn't.. Looks like my attempt at humor fell on it's face...8)

  • @DriveInFreak No problem, DriveIn. I laughed when I read it!! ;-) You're right about Stereo TV, too. I was still living at home with my folks when I taped this via antenna and we lived about 45 miles from the transmitter site. I've done new soundtracks for some of my videos whenever they were using the album tracks and were lip-syncing, but I never did a comparison on this cut. My "Hollywood Heartbeat" and "Rockworld" recordings are the rarest ones I have....so far.

  • I heard this song once and bought the LP. Years later I gave it away. Now 30 years later I find it posted on Youtube.Who are you people?Sick with nostalgia or what?

  • Yeah, pretty much.....sick. ;-)

  • Good song, surprisingly vibrant for techno-pop. Why didn't Myrick and the Figures figure more prominently back then?

  • My baby says hey....

  • For years I kept hearing this song being played on WKRP In Cincinatti in the part where dr. Johnny fever was being Interviewed by Real Families about Herb Tarlek and I keep hearing the Part SHE TALKS IN STEREO...SHE SOUNDS SO GOOD TO ME and always had a notion it was Joe Walsh but likily I happened to clicked on this song and to my surprise it was the Figures!!! Interesting Classic from 1980!!!

  • ...and I can hear her say....

  • Just saw them play live a couple of hours ago - Gary and the band are still great! They finished with the one-two punch of this song, and then right into "Guitar, Talk, Love and Drums." Awesome.

  • I have this on CD from the Valley Girl soundtrack...such an excellent tune. Party on

  • great song AND he is HOT. love all his stuff

  • Great tune...truly a classic imo

    Thx much for posting!!!

  • this song is still good after all these years, KROQ in LA played this all the time thanks for sharing.
